Video gaming systems in the United States alone use $6 billion of electricity each and every year.

That is equivalent, in terms of Carbon Dioxide emissions, to 2.3 million passenger cars running for a year.

In fact, “video gaming is among the very most intensive uses of electricity in homes.”

But there is hope. By using more efficient components, in particular power supplies and graphics cards, electricity usage can be reduced by up to 50% with no loss in gaming performance.

Of course, gaming systems can get extremely more complex than this but hey, it’s a nice image!
